SB 1583 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 5-106 to clarify that governing boards of school districts shall be known as "boards of education."

• Allows school district boards to contract with superintendents for terms up to three years beyond the fiscal year in which the contract is approved and accepted.

• Permits two or more school district boards to jointly contract with a single superintendent to serve multiple districts under Section 5-106A.

• Allows school districts with fewer than 500 average daily membership pupils to have a superintendent simultaneously serve as a principal.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
