SB 1591 Summary

• Allows lineal descendants of lifetime hunting, fishing, or combination hunting and fishing licensees who died in the line of duty during wartime operations to inherit those licenses.

• Requires the Department of Wildlife Conservation to calculate and report revenue lost due to inherited licenses to the State Board of Equalization by November 30 each year.

• The State Board of Equalization must determine annual reimbursement amounts to compensate the Department for lost revenue from inherited licenses and subtract this from available General Revenue Fund appropriations.

• Reimbursement determinations occur at the Board's December meetings each year, with first reimbursement calculated in December 2014 for the prior fiscal year.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
