ENGR. S. B. NO. 1624 Summary

• Directs Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to adopt a policy allowing students to pay resident tuition at Oklahoma higher education institutions if they earned a high school diploma from an Oklahoma public school and were Oklahoma residents when receiving the diploma.

• Restricts resident tuition eligibility to students who enrolled in an Oklahoma State System of Higher Education institution prior to July 1, 2014.

• Prohibits individuals not lawfully present in the United States from being classified as residents or receiving resident tuition and postsecondary education benefits including scholarships and financial aid.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012, with emergency clause allowing immediate implementation upon passage and approval.
