SB1680 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma Statute 70 O.S. 2011, Section 5-106 regarding school district governing boards and superintendent authority.

• Clarifies that the governing board of each school district shall be known as the "board of education" and designates the superintendent as executive officer.

• Allows boards of two or more school districts to contract with one superintendent to serve multiple districts under Section 5-106A of the statutory title.

• Permits small school districts with average daily membership under 500 pupils to allow a superintendent to simultaneously serve as a principal.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2012.
