SB 1686 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma smoking laws to allow commercial airport operators to prohibit lighted tobacco use in any public area (indoor or outdoor) within 175 feet of an entrance.

• Modifies 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1247 and 63 O.S. 2011, Section 1-1523 regarding smoking in public places and indoor workplaces.

• Maintains existing prohibitions on smoking in public buildings, indoor workplaces, public transportation, zoos, and nursing facilities with specific exceptions for designated smoking rooms in state buildings.

• Violations remain a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $10-$100.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
