Amends Rule 257:1-1-2 of the Ethics Commission Rules to modify the definition of "things of value" by removing language that exempted food and beverage at "any event to which all members of the Legislature are invited"

Clarifies that food and beverage consumed at charitable, civic, or community events remain exempt only if the event bears a relationship to the officer's or employee's office and they are attending in an official capacity

Removes the broad exemption that previously covered events open to all legislators, making the gift rules more restrictive for legislative events

Takes effect November 1, 2012
