SB 1721 Summary

• Creates "Caylee's Law" requiring parents, guardians, or custodians of children 15 years or younger to report the child as missing to law enforcement or 911 within 48 hours of forming reasonable belief the child is missing

• Establishes felony offenses punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment for: (1) failing to report a missing child; (2) concealing a child's death while not under professional medical care without notifying authorities; and (3) providing false information to law enforcement to obstruct investigation of a child's death or disappearance

• Effective date set for November 1, 2012
