SB1724 Summary

• Amends 22 O.S. 2011, Section 152 to modify the statute of limitations for prosecutions of certain crimes in Oklahoma.

• Extends statute of limitations to seven (7) years for crimes including bribery, embezzlement of public money, falsification of public records, and solicitation for murder in the first degree.

• Establishes five (5) year statute of limitations for school district embezzlement, misappropriation, identity theft, and vulnerable adult financial exploitation offenses.

• Allows prosecution of child sexual abuse crimes at any time if victim reported within 12 years of discovery and identity established through DNA evidence, with prosecution required within three (3) years of DNA identification.

• Changes accessory to felony prosecution to follow the same statute of limitations as the underlying felony instead of a fixed timeline; effective November 1, 2012.
