SB 1840 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 964 regarding reporting requirements for vehicles left in storage facilities for 30 days or longer.

• Requires garage, trailer park, or lot owners to report abandoned vehicles to the Department of Public Safety within 5 days after the 30-day storage period expires.

• Changes penalty language from "not to exceed" to "no more than" Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) fine for failure to report, with each day's non-compliance constituting a separate offense.

• Exempts vehicles from reporting requirements when the owner has made continuous storage arrangements and is personally known to the facility operator.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2012.
