SB1869 Summary

• Establishes a legislative study consisting of a series of open meetings to discuss business opportunities, employment factors, and attracting business to Oklahoma.

• Study co-chaired by the chair of the Senate Business and Commerce Committee and the chair of the House Economic Development, Tourism and Financial Affairs Committee, with up to 24 designated members maximum.

• Requires the study to review unemployment laws, funding mechanisms, and factors affecting Oklahoma employers and employees under the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, including how employers and employees navigate the current system of payments, claims, and benefits.

• Study may review and make recommendations to improve commerce and employment or study other workforce and commerce issues agreed upon by the co-chairs.

• Study concludes December 31, 2012; members may receive travel reimbursement and per diem; all meetings must comply with the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act.
