SB 1953 Summary

• Amends 20 O.S. 2011, Section 1404 to add a new subsection requiring judicial officers to report conduct they believe may violate the Code of Judicial Conduct to the Council on Judicial Complaints.

• Establishes grounds for removal of judicial officers by the Court on the Judiciary, including acceptance of improper fees, failure to comply with court directives, participation in partisan political activity, and other conduct violations.

• Modifies punctuation and grammatical references in existing removal grounds (changing periods to semicolons and updating statutory references from "Section 1" to "Section 1 of Article VII-A").

• Effective date set for November 1, 2012.
