Reduces the timeframe for scheduling a full hearing on a protective order petition from 20 days to 14 days, or 72 hours when a minor child has been removed from the residence due to domestic abuse.

Changes peace officers' authority from "may arrest" to "shall arrest" without a warrant when reasonable cause exists that a person has violated a protective order that has been properly served and filed with law enforcement.

Requires courts to set reasonable bond for persons arrested for violating protective orders and allows courts to consider victim safety when determining bond amounts.

Allows petitioners to request protective order petitions be renewed every 20 days with new hearing dates until the defendant is served, and prevents orders from expiring unless the petitioner fails to appear or requests dismissal.
