SB 911 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. Section 3311.4 to update language regarding continuing law enforcement training requirements for certified peace officers.

• Requires active full-time peace officers certified by CLEET to complete minimum 25 hours of annual continuing law enforcement training, including mandatory 2 hours on mental health issues.

• Adds requirement that inactive officers who have been inactive for 5 or more years must complete 100 hours of refresher training (including minimum 4 hours of mental health education) within one year of reemployment.

• Extends training requirements to tribal officers commissioned through cross-deputization agreements with Oklahoma or its political subdivisions, using updated language replacing "State of Oklahoma" with "this state."

• Effective November 1, 2011.
