Oklahoma State Senate Resolution 29 honors the life and career of State Senator David Myers, who represented Senate District 20 from 2002 until his death on November 11, 2011

Senator Myers worked 33 years as a chemical engineer and executive for ConocoPhillips before serving in the legislature, where he chaired the Appropriations Committee during the 2011 session

He advocated for alternative fuels, public smoking bans, protections against sexual predators, and stronger drunk driving penalties during his nine years in the Senate

Myers received numerous awards including Legislator of the Year from Oklahoma Farm Bureau (2007), True Grit Award from American Cancer Society (2008), and Distinguished Service Award from Oklahoma Board of Regents (2009)

The resolution directs distribution of copies to his wife Sara and children Craig and Sheryl
