HB 1033 Summary

• Amends 10A O.S. 2011, Section 1-6-103 to permit attorneys representing parents involved in child custody or child welfare proceedings to inspect juvenile court records and Department of Human Services records without a court order.

• Adds the attorney representing a parent as a new category (item 4) of persons authorized to access confidential records pertaining to a child who is the subject of a proceeding under juvenile code or other child custody proceedings.

• Permits inspection by these parental attorneys on the same basis as other authorized persons - upon showing proper credentials and pursuant to their lawful duties in representing the parent.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
