HB 1234 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 6-194 to add two new goals to school district professional development programs: implementing Oklahoma Core curriculum standards and implementing the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Evaluation System (TLE)

• Professional development committees must continue using data-driven approaches to analyze student data and determine district and school professional development needs in core curriculum areas

• Existing goals for professional development remain: increasing academic performance index scores, closing achievement gaps, increasing student achievement on state tests and ACT, increasing high school graduation rates, and decreasing college remediation rates

• Effective date is July 1, 2013, with emergency clause declared for immediate enactment
