HB 1275 Summary

• Amends 59 O.S. 2011, Section 353.13A regarding prescription label requirements for pharmacies

• Requires prescribers or their representatives to provide the symptom or purpose for which a drug is prescribed to the pharmacy, unless the patient or patient's authorized representative requests otherwise

• Allows pharmacists to fill prescriptions without contacting the prescriber if the symptom or purpose information is not provided per patient request

• Provides that failure to include symptom or purpose information on a prescription label cannot be used as evidence of malpractice in litigation

• Effective date: November 1, 2013
