HB 1303 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 1210.515 relating to reading proficiency requirements for driver license applicants under age 18

• Allows persons under 18 who have passed a reading proficiency test in another state to submit results to the State Department of Education for verification and approval

• State Department of Education has 30 days to verify that out-of-state reading proficiency standards are equivalent or comparable to Oklahoma's requirements

• Upon approval, the Department furnishes documentation needed for Oklahoma driver license application; if disapproved, the person may take an alternative reading proficiency test

• Effective November 1, 2013
