HB 1375 Summary

• Prohibits operators and passengers of motor vehicles from smoking cigarettes, pipes, or cigars when a child aged 13 years or younger is also present in the vehicle.

• Applies to motor vehicles defined as any conveyance used for transportation on public roads, including passenger compartments of pickups, vans, minivans, and sport utility vehicles, but excludes trucks, truck-tractors, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and motorized bicycles.

• Establishes a minimum fine of $500.00 for violations of the smoking prohibition.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
