HB 1413 Summary

• Amends 59 O.S. 2011, Section 1750.5 relating to the Oklahoma Security Guard and Private Investigator Act by adding a new license type for armed private investigators.

• Authorizes armed private investigators to carry a concealed or unconcealed firearm when on or off duty, provided they possess a valid driver license and valid armed private investigator license.

• Requires armed private investigator applicants to complete Phase I, III, and IV training and pass psychological examination and state test, with exemptions for active and retired certified peace officers.

• Sets the armed private investigator license fee at the same rate as armed security guard licenses, except active certified peace officers pay only 20% of the required fee.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
