HB1457 Summary

• Transfers authority to set resident and nonresident tuition and student fees from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to the Oklahoma Legislature beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year.

• Repeals three existing statutes (70 O.S. 2011, Sections 3218.2, 3218.8, and 3218.9) that previously authorized the Regents to establish tuition and fee amounts for Oklahoma State System of Higher Education institutions.

• Codifies new law as Section 3218.16 of Title 70, establishing that the Legislature shall have sole authority over tuition and fee requirements for all students receiving instruction or academic services at state higher education institutions.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013.
