HB 1597 Summary

• Amends 29 O.S. 2011, Section 4-139 relating to migratory bird and Sandhill Crane permits for hunting in Oklahoma

• Requires all persons hunting Sandhill Cranes to obtain a Sandhill Crane permit for $2.00, with no exemptions allowed

• Limits exemptions from migratory bird permit requirements to: persons under 16 years old, persons 64 years or older, and landowners hunting only on their own property

• Maintains the $2.00 migratory bird permit fee for residents and nonresidents, with fee waived for those applying online by July 1, 2004

• Establishes $10.00 fine for violations of the permit requirements
