HB 1617 Summary

• Amends 74 O.S. 2011, Section 85.45l to require state agencies to use the Trip Optimizer system to calculate the most cost-effective method for state employee travel exceeding 100 miles per day using motor vehicles (unless driving a dedicated state vehicle).

• Establishes that the Trip Optimizer system determines maximum authorized travel reimbursement amounts, and all reimbursement claims must include Trip Optimizer results showing the lowest cost option.

• Exempts field service personnel employed by the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management from Trip Optimizer requirements, allowing them to seek reimbursement using a schedule of mileage rates published by the Office of Management and Enterprise Services.

• Requires the Trip Optimizer system to account for distance to pick up rental/fleet vehicles and to include long-term rate discounts from the state's vehicle rental purchasing contracts.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013.
