HB 1684 Summary

• Re-creates the Oklahoma Oilseed Commission until June 1, 2017 (extended from the previous termination date of June 1, 2013) under the Oklahoma Sunset Law.

• Commission comprises five (5) elected members from five designated districts, plus the President of the State Board of Agriculture as an ex officio nonvoting member.

• Elected members must be at least 25 years old, Oklahoma residents, engaged in oilseed production for at least 2 years, and derive income from oilseed production.

• Initial terms stagger from 2 to 6 years depending on district; subsequent terms are 5 years with members limited to two consecutive full terms before a one-term waiting period.

• Commission members receive no compensation but are reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses; members may be removed by the State Board of Agriculture President or by two-thirds vote of other Commission members.
