HB 1784 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 1210.545 to clarify language regarding Oklahoma School Testing Program annual reports prepared by the State Board of Education describing student achievement.

• Changes the phrase "which" to "The reports" in the statute to clarify that reports shall include descriptions of school performance, major student populations, and median scores of students in the lowest twenty-fifth percentile.

• Maintains existing provisions for school grading systems (A through F grades) based on student test scores, learning gains, improvement of lowest-performing students, and whole school improvement metrics.

• Requires annual school site report cards to be published by the Department on its website and distributed by school districts to parents, including school grades and performance information.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2013, with an emergency clause for immediate implementation upon passage and approval.
