HB 1929 Summary

• Modifies eligibility for Gold Star Parents License Plates to include parents of service members who "died while on active duty" rather than only those "killed during a war"

• Expands Gold Star Survivor License Plates to include three categories of qualified veterans: those who died as a direct result of service duties, those who died from service-related injury or illness (whether during or after active duty), or those who died while on active duty

• Allows surviving spouses of qualifying veterans to apply for Gold Star Survivor plates if not remarried or if previous remarriage was terminated by death, divorce, or annulment

• Effective date is November 1, 2013
