HB 1941 Summary

• Amends 59 O.S. 2011, Section 1320 to remove the limitation restricting bail bondsmen to writing bonds on only 10 defendants per year in counties where they are not registered.

• Requires bail bondsmen to register their license with the sheriff and/or district court clerk in their county of residence before becoming a surety on bonds.

• Allows bondsmen to write surety bonds in counties outside their residence by filing a certified copy of their license with the district court clerk and paying a $10 fee per county annually.

• Requires district court clerks to provide a list of authorized bondsmen to judges and law enforcement in their county.

• Authorizes courts to set bail in counties that do not have a licensed bondsman authorized to conduct business within that county.
