HB 1997 Summary

• Modifies the Advisory Committee of Registered Electrologists from three members appointed from a list of six nominees to three members appointed by the Board, with eligibility extended to licensed retired electrologists with 10+ years of experience.

• Changes educational requirements for electrology licensure from requiring a baccalaureate degree to requiring college courses in human anatomy, physiology, general chemistry, and microbiology (grade C or better), with medical terminology potentially required.

• Updates the examination process to be prepared by the Committee and approved by the Board, and changes meeting frequency language from "at least three times per year" to "schedule meetings" without specifying frequency.

• Removes the requirement that licensed electrologists register their licenses with county clerks, eliminating Section 536.8(A) registration provisions while retaining license display and renewal requirements.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013.
