HB 2170 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1272 regarding unlawful carry of weapons in Oklahoma.

• Removes "spring-type knife" from the list of prohibited weapons that cannot be carried on one's person.

• Maintains prohibitions on carrying pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, daggers, bowie knives, dirk knives, switchblade knives, sword canes, and other offensive weapons.

• Preserves existing exceptions for hunting, fishing, recreation, peace officers, authorized personnel, certain judges with handgun licenses, and living history reenactments.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
