HB 2200 Summary

• Permits the State of Oklahoma and its agencies to contract with collection agencies to collect debts and accounts receivable, including unpaid fees, penalties, interest, and other sums due to the state

• Allows collection agencies to add a collection fee not to exceed 35 percent on each item referred for collection

• Requires courts to order defendants to reimburse collection fees for court penalties, costs, fines, and fees when the state has contracted with a collection agency

• Defines "agencies" as boards, commissions, committees, departments, and other entities designated to act on behalf of the state or political subdivisions

• Effective November 1, 2013
