HB 2202 Summary

• Requires health benefit plans providing cancer treatment coverage to also cover prescribed oral anticancer medications on a basis no less favorable than intravenously administered or injected cancer medications

• Prohibits prior authorization, dollar limits, copayments, deductibles, or other out-of-pocket expenses for oral anticancer medications that do not apply to intravenous or injected cancer medications, regardless of formulation or benefit category

• Prevents health benefit plans from reclassifying or increasing cost-sharing for anticancer medications to achieve compliance, and requires any plan changes that increase out-of-pocket expenses for oral anticancer medications to also apply to the majority of comparable medical or pharmaceutical benefits

• Establishes a $100 maximum per-prescription cost-sharing limit for oral anticancer medications as compliant with requirements

• Takes effect November 1, 2013
