HB2245 Summary

• Creates the "Public School Funding and Finance Task Force" that will operate until December 31, 2013 to study school funding and finance issues and recommend improvements to the public school state aid funding formula

• Task Force consists of 11 members including 2 House appointees, 2 Senate appointees, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, representatives from school boards and superintendents, a teacher organization representative, and 3 public school superintendents appointed by legislative and executive leaders

• Members must be appointed by August 1, 2013, with an organizational meeting by August 31, 2013 to select chair and vice-chair; members receive travel reimbursement and staff support from the State Department of Education

• Task Force is exempt from the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act and Oklahoma Open Records Act, and must complete its study by December 31, 2013

• Declares an emergency effective upon passage and approval
