HB 2276 Summary

• Amends 26 O.S. 2011, Section 1-103 relating to runoff primary elections in Oklahoma.

• Changes the requirement for runoff primary elections by allowing a single candidate (instead of two candidates) receiving the highest number of votes to advance directly to the General Election.

• Permits bypassing runoff primary elections when three or more runoff primary elections cannot be held simultaneously, as determined by the county election board.

• Prohibits counties, municipalities, or school districts from scheduling elections within 20 days before any runoff primary election.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013.
