HB 2300 Summary

• Creates a "Common Core Task Force" that terminates on December 31, 2013 to study issues related to adopting, implementing, and aligning state curriculum with K-12 Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics

• Task Force consists of 16 members including legislators from House and Senate education/appropriations committees, Superintendent of Public Instruction, education organization representatives, and school district superintendents from rural and urban areas

• Members must be appointed by August 1, 2013, with first organizational meeting by August 31, 2013; members select chair and vice-chair at organizational meeting

• Task Force shall investigate and make recommendations on costs associated with adopting and implementing Common Core standards, including costs for revising state testing programs

• Task Force is exempt from Oklahoma Open Meeting Act and Open Records Act; members receive travel reimbursement; State Department of Education provides staff assistance; study must be completed by December 31, 2013
