HCR 1016 Summary

• Directs the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Oklahoma Historical Society to work with the Oklahoma Museums Association and Oklahoma Cultural Heritage Trust to develop a strategy for increasing public and private support for archives, libraries, and museums statewide.

• Recognizes that Oklahoma has more than 800 archives, libraries, and museums that serve as stewards of the state's culture and heritage dating back to prestatehood.

• Acknowledges these institutions generate significant economic and cultural value, including over 8 million annual visits, supporting 4,000+ employees and utilizing 12,000+ volunteers.

• Expresses the Oklahoma Legislature's appreciation and support for the state's cultural heritage entities and their efforts to preserve Oklahoma's history and culture.

• Requires distribution of the resolution to the Director of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Historical Society, Directors of the Oklahoma Cultural Heritage Trust, and Executive Director of the Oklahoma Museums Association.
