HJR 1041 Summary

• Proposes amendment to Section 4 of Article XXVIII of the Oklahoma Constitution to allow retail sale of beer, wine and spirit accessories in package stores.

• Currently prohibits any goods, wares, merchandise or services from being sold on premises where alcohol is sold; amendment would create exception for bottle openers, corkscrews and related accessories.

• Directs Secretary of State to refer proposed constitutional amendment to voters for approval or rejection.

• Provides ballot title and gist of proposition explaining that liquor stores could sell nonalcoholic items like beer, wine and spirit accessories under laws to be written by the Legislature.

• Requires Chief Clerk of House to file resolution with Secretary of State and Attorney General immediately after passage.
