SB 1027 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1125 to define "park" as including state parks in the existing zone of safety prohibition for registered sex offenders.

• Expands the 500-foot zone of safety around parks to include state parks, prohibiting sex offenders required to register or those convicted of crimes against children under 13 from loitering in these areas.

• Adds new violations to 74 O.S. 2011, Section 2217 (public access to state parks) making it unlawful for sex offenders to enter state parks or loiter within 500 feet of them.

• Maintains existing exemptions for custodial parents/guardians enrolling or retrieving children at schools and licensed child care facilities, with required advance notification to administrators.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
