SB 1131 Summary

• Authorizes the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) Board of Trustees to accept nonresident students (from outside Oklahoma and the United States) for enrollment up to 10 percent of total OSSM enrollment when unused capacity exists.

• Requires the Board to establish nonresident tuition and room and board rates that meet or exceed the cost of attendance, subject to legislative limits.

• Mandates that Oklahoma resident applicants receive priority enrollment over nonresidents when all other qualifications are equal.

• Allows OSSM to rent dormitories, classrooms, laboratories, and other facilities located in Oklahoma City.

• Authorizes OSSM to establish educational programs and professional development workshops during summer periods with student tuition and fees, and requires annual reports to the Governor and legislative committees on nonresident rates and enrollment impact.
