SB 157 Summary

• Increases mathematics graduation requirement from three to four units for students entering ninth grade in 2013-2014 school year and thereafter

• Fourth math unit may include STEM-approved courses, remedial mathematics (for students needing preparation), or career and technology center courses certified by State Department of Education

• Applies to both college preparatory/work ready curriculum track (subsection B) and core curriculum track (subsection D)

• Effective July 1, 2013, with emergency clause for immediate implementation
