SB182 Summary

• Authorizes the State Department of Rehabilitation Services to license, contract with, and hire rehabilitation counselors from nationally accredited and certified programs meeting Commission on Rehabilitation Services standards.

• Amends 59 O.S. 2011, Section 1903 to exempt rehabilitation counselors performing services for the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services from requirements of the Licensed Professional Counselors Act.

• Rehabilitation counselors working for the state remain subject to their existing certification requirements and scope of practice limitations.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
