SB 207 - Teacher Evaluation Frequency

• Amends Oklahoma's teacher evaluation law (70 O.S. 2011, Sections 6-101.10 and 6-101.16) to modify evaluation requirements for teachers under the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Evaluation System (TLE).

• Removes specific evaluation deadlines for probationary teachers, changing requirement from evaluations "once prior to November 15 and once prior to February 10" to "once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester."

• Allows career teachers receiving a "superior" or "highly effective" rating under the TLE to be evaluated once every two (2) years instead of annually, subject to school district discretion.

• Maintains annual evaluations for all other teachers and requires probationary teachers to continue receiving two evaluations per school year.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2013, with an emergency clause allowing immediate implementation upon passage and approval.
