Recount petitions for candidate elections must be filed with the same election board where the candidate filed their declaration of candidacy, and only candidates whose names appeared on the ballot may file.

An additional deposit equal to the total of all required deposits is mandated when the margin between first-place and second-place candidates is 10% or greater.

No additional deposit is required in primary elections with three or more candidates when the margin between second and third place is less than 1%, or when the first-place candidate is within 1% of a majority.

Deposits required under the 10% margin rule are non-refundable unless the recount changes the election outcome.
