Senate Bill 27 Summary

• Amends 56 O.S. 2011, Section 1003 to strengthen the Medicaid fraud control unit within the Office of the Attorney General.

• Authorizes the Oklahoma Health Care Authority to require providers to display information about reporting suspected Medicaid fraud, including the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit hotline number, in conspicuous locations where Medicaid services are delivered.

• Expands the Attorney General's authority to investigate and prosecute Medicaid fraud cases, including powers to issue subpoenas, administer oaths, execute search warrants, and serve as a district attorney.

• Establishes the "Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Revolving Fund" for collecting and managing fines, penalties, restitution, and costs recovered from fraud cases, with 75% of excess funds deposited to General Revenue Fund and 25% to the Attorney General's Evidence Fund.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013.
