SB 285 Summary

• Amends 19 O.S. 2011, Section 215.22 to authorize district attorneys to destroy office records and files under specified circumstances

• Permits destruction of felony case records or felony investigation records (except homicides) after 10 years have elapsed since last action, provided records are microfilmed or stored electronically first

• Permits destruction of misdemeanor or traffic case records after 5 years have elapsed since last action, with microfilm or computer storage required before destruction

• Authorizes destruction of juvenile case records and civil case records after 10 years have elapsed since last action, with microfilm or computer storage required before destruction

• Makes language gender neutral by changing "his" to "his or her" and becomes effective November 1, 2013
