SB 301 Summary

• Governor serves as appointing authority and Executive Director of Office of Juvenile Affairs serves as Compact Administrator pursuant to the Interstate Compact for Juveniles

• Creates State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision with 11 members including judges, legislative representatives, Office of Juvenile Affairs employee, Department of Human Services employee, district attorney, defense attorney, and representatives from nonprofit victims and youth services organizations

• Appointments to council must be made by July 1, 2013, with members serving three-year terms and vacancies filled within 60 days

• Council meets quarterly at times set by Compact Administrator who presides over meetings; majority of members present constitutes quorum

• Council provides oversight and develops policy concerning Oklahoma's participation in Interstate Compact for Juveniles operations; members receive no compensation but may be reimbursed for travel expenses by their appointing authorities
