SB 310 Summary

• Creates the Spring Cleaning Commission within the legislative branch to identify and review outdated, redundant, unnecessary, or obsolete state laws and regulations.

• Commission composed of 8 former legislators (4 appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore, 4 by House Speaker) with 5-member quorum required for action.

• Directed to identify poorly organized law titles, archaic language, obsolete programs, redundant regulations, and inefficient bureaucratic procedures, then develop recommendations for constitutional, statutory, regulatory, and policy changes.

• Commission chair and vice-chair selected by members; members serve at pleasure of appointing authority with 8-year term limit; staff support provided by Senate and House; subject to Oklahoma Open Meeting Act.

• Takes effect November 1, 2013.
