SB 315 Summary

• CLEET must include minimum 4 hours of education on recognizing and managing persons with mental health issues in basic law enforcement training, effective November 1, 2007.

• CLEET must provide minimum 6 hours of evidence-based sexual assault and sexual violence training by January 1, 2008, with instruction from certified sexual assault service providers.

• All active full-time peace officers previously certified by CLEET must complete sexual assault and sexual violence training by January 1, 2012.

• CLEET must establish minimum 8 hours of evidence-based domestic violence and stalking investigation training by January 1, 2012, developed with the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board and victim advocates.

• CLEET must include minimum 2 hours of training on recognizing and managing persons experiencing dementia or Alzheimer's disease in basic law enforcement certification courses, effective November 1, 2013.
