SB378 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2011, Section 3-134 regarding Oklahoma Charter Schools Act applications and facility locations.

• Allows charter schools sponsored by school districts or technology center school districts to be physically located within facilities owned by nonprofit organizations or federally recognized Indian tribes, in addition to locations within district boundaries.

• Maintains existing requirements for charter school applicants including mandatory training (up to 10 hours), written application submission, and application approval process through proposed sponsors.

• Effective July 1, 2013, with an emergency clause declaring immediate necessity for preservation of public peace, health, and safety.
