SB393 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 843.5 to modify the definition of "child neglect" by updating a statutory reference from paragraph 46 to paragraph 47 of Section 1-1-105 of Title 10A.

• Establishes a duty for parents or guardians to furnish medical attention for non-emancipated children under 18 years of age in the manner a reasonably prudent person would provide.

• Provides an exception protecting parents or guardians from criminal liability for failure to furnish medical attention for medical issues that a reasonably prudent person would conclude as minor or trivial.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2013.
