SB 450 Summary

• Amends 22 O.S. 2011, Section 1115.1A to allow defendants in traffic violation cases to enter pleas of guilty or nolo contendere electronically through the court's website or other electronic methods approved by the court, in addition to traditional written methods.

• Amends 29 O.S. 2011, Section 9-112 to permit defendants charged with Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Code violations to enter pleas electronically for misdemeanor offenses carrying a minimum fine of $50 or less.

• Requires courts to accept electronically filed pleas before arraignment, with defendants responsible for paying fines and costs through approved payment methods.

• Allows courts to notify defendants of case resolution by electronic mail if the defendant has provided an email address for such purposes.

• Effective date: November 1, 2013.
